POSH Girls Match Reports - September 15th 2007

U11s Fenland League POSH Girls (0) v Wyberton (0)

The Fenland League U11 Posh Girls hosted Wyberton Wildcats at Hampton. Posh were aware that the Wildcats had scored 11 in their 1st game and themselves had conceded 6. This in no way dampened the spirit of the Posh Girls and although there were to be no goals scored, there was plenty to applaude. Both teams worked selflessly in hot conditions to try and make that crucial breakthrough. Wyberton had the better of the chances throughout but were denied by an enthusiastic Posh who refused to concede and created goal scoring opportunities of their own as the game progressed.
Stubbs was magnificent in goal and Kirstie Davis battled continuously in Centre Midfield. This was a very positive and encouraging display from all of the girls who should be delighted with the clean sheet and their team performance. Well done Girls!!

Manager: Justine Steele. Players: Natasha Stubbs • Olivia Nunziata • Ellie Ireson • Kirstie Davis • Katherine Amps • Alexa Hunter • Georgina Parrett • Jessica Amps • Rebecca Bowe • Stephania Chaudhuri

U11s S-Tech League P'Boro Diamonds (0) v POSH Girls (7)

Posh S-Tech U11's put in a wonderful performance to keep a 2nd consecutive clean sheet in their 7 - 0 win away to Peterborough Diamonds.
Both teams started strongly but after 10 minutes Megan Parrett opened the scoring for Posh. Shortly after Diamonds came close with an effort that came off the inside of the post and rolled across Posh's goal. However this nervous moment was soon forgotten as Posh forged to a 3 - 0 lead at half-time with goals from Kim Lane and Striker Keir Perkins.
In the 2nd half Posh played some attractive 1 & 2 touch football and Alessia Mundo hit home just 10 seconds and 3 passes after the restart. Fiona Plumb was on target from 30 yards and the Diamonds Keeper positioned and held the ball well. But Posh continually pressured and found their way through the defence netting 3 more times before the final whistle. Perkins made her tally 2 and Parrett celebrated 2 hat-tricks in 2 games!!

Manager: Justine Steele. Players: Katie Plumb • Fiona PLumb • Tihesia Bennett • Georgie Elsom • Kim Lane • Alessia Mundo • Maria Butler • Megan Parrett • Frankie Jepsom • Keir Perkins

U13s S-Tech League Willingham Wolves (1) v POSH Girls (5)

POSH Girls U13s faced Willingham Wolves away in their first league game of the season. A positive opening performance by the girls saw them 2-0 up at half time. A solid back four combined well with the attacking midfield to set up an unstoppable strike by Bethany Wilson. Willingham worked hard to pull back a goal only to be met with a positive response by the POSH Girls who set up Lauretta Burdge. A hungry display ensured Amy Challis netted a hat trick in her first league appearance for POSH Girls.

Manager: Nikki Johnson Players: Lauren Brown • Lauretta Burdge • Georgia Campbell-Turner • Cady Carolissen • Amy Challis • Emily Fox • Sarah Galpin • Abbey Goymour • Megan Jepson • Hannah Moore • Elizabeth Pacey • Hannah Sansom • Bethany Wilson
