POSH Girls Match Reports - Dec 21st 2007

U11s S-Tech League Kings Lynn(0) v POSH Girls (4)

Fri 21st Dec
U11 S-Tech Girls travelled to Norfolk to play their 4th friendly against Kings Lynn Advanced Centre. Having lost the 1st two ties and then drawing 3-3 in their most recent meeting, POSH despite not getting a lie-in on the 1st day of the holidays were up for the game that could rather nicely bring 2007 to a close! POSH didn't look like this was their 1st 9 a-side game as they settled in to their positions and made decisions for themselves, learning swiftly with each 1/4 played. Five and a half minutes into the match Frankie Jepson opened the scoring with a sensational rightfooted strike that flew into the net leaving the keeper stranded. Tihesia Bennett was super calm and again linked up well with the midfield as Georgie Elsom, Kim Lane and the Frankster were a positive and creative force. (Get Well Soon Alessia!) Brand new pairing Perkins and Parrett up front showed huge potential for a blossoming partnership as they experienced working closely as a unit and produced some delightful touches and instinctive play. Parrett bagged a goal early in the 3rd 1/4 as POSH made it 2-0 but were unlucky not to get more as they passed effectively and attacked quickly striking the woodwork on a fistful of occasions as they took their shooting opportunities. Kirstie Davis and Alexa Hunter of Fenland fame contributed well to the team and had a positive influence on the game. Davis was solid in midfield while Hunter was as her name suggests as she exploited space on the wing and ultimately fired a shot that put the game beyond Kings Lynn, who's keeper was enjoying a strong game as her and the Advanced defence came under attack. Fiona Plumb was brave and strong as she denied the opposition frequent shots on the POSH goal with sister Katie confidently guarding and communicating well. Maria Butler was always ready for the early ball and worked tirelessly for the hour getting and giving the ball at some crucial moments. The fourth and final goal came from Keir Perkins as she deservedly smashed the ball over the line in a final POSH onslaught. Credit however to Kings Lynn who without subs fought valiantly throughout and always do a great job of hosting the visiting POSH. Final score POSH win 4-0.

Well done girls, thanks for all your hard work so far. Let's keep it up in the New Year and go conquer 2008!!
