U11s S-Tech League v POSH Girls(1) v Sawtry Colts(1)

POSH U11 S-Tech girls started their Cup Campaign at home against Sawtry Colts and found that Cup Competitions tend to present a level playing field despite previous results. In very blustery conditions that made playing difficult for both teams POSH created the first goal after Keir Perkins picked up the ball outside the box and with a powerful and searing run finished decisively taking the lead. Sawtry had their chances and may have capitalized but POSH successfully closed them down but then struggled to counter attack as Sawtry got players quickly behind the ball. Goalless until midway through the second half and with neither team having the edge, Sawtry converted from the goal-mouth to lift the visitors as POSH faced pressure of this kind for the first time this season. But POSH being POSH set about the task with new vigor and were unfortunate not to grab the winner as Perkins poked the ball narrowly wide from a driven Lane freekick and Mundo hit the side netting twice after blistering runs from the wing. As the final whistle blew the neutral will say that a draw was the fair result although both teams had their chances to clinch it and now enter the next group game undefeated. Final Score 1-1.
